Have you ever looked at a mushroom in the woods and thought, “What the hell is THAT?” Well, adventurer, it’s time to investigate.
CTGA is teaming up with the Chicago Mushroom Club for our first-ever Spore Lore Mushroom Walk!
Join us for an afternoon wandering through the woods, learning about local fungi, spotting strange and wonderful mushrooms, and generally embracing our inner forest goblins.
Sunday, September 6th | 3:00 - 5:00 PM
North Park Village Walking Stick Woods | Meet at the steps of the Peterson Park fieldhouse.
Our mushroom guides will lead us through the woods, stopping along the way to observe, photograph, and discuss whatever fungal treasures we find. The walk will typically run about 90 minutes, but could stretch closer to 2 hours if the mushrooms (and the vibes) are good.
Gnomes, Goblins, & Mushroom Wizards Encouraged
Come dressed like you just wandered out of a woodland RPG. Gnome hats? Goblin garb? Full mushroom wizard? Absolutely. Dressing up is totally optional, but encouraged for maximum forest magic.
A FEW IMPORTANT NOTES
This walk will take place in a natural area on unpaved outdoor trails. As with any outdoor activity, there are inherent risks, including uneven or changing terrain, weather, insects, and other natural hazards. By participating, you acknowledge these inherent risks and agree to take reasonable responsibility for your own safety during the event.
Wear comfortable shoes. The trails aren't especially intense, so hiking boots aren't necessary.
Long pants are recommended because of ticks.
We'll be stopping frequently to examine and discuss our finds, so everyone should stay together.
We'll be observing, photographing, and discussing mushrooms—no harvesting is allowed.
Please be respectful of the woods and the surrounding environment.
Come roll for Nature. Registration is limited, so grab your spot before the party fills up!
